2024 Business Scheduling
Dear Friends,
This email is to provide you with an update on the status of business tax appointments.
As I am sure you remember, I sent out letters in January and December of 2023 explaining and updating you on the status of business returns and announcing I was not going to schedule business tax appointments until I got caught up. I also stated there are just not enough hours in the year to get all clients completed and asked you to try and find another preparer. If you need to read these letters again, they are on our website in the Articles & Updates tab, please visit www.thetaxauthority.com.
The results were a few clients have moved on but the majority have choose to wait. This dedication is a blessing and a curse. I have been able to get a lot of clients completed but as of this month I still have 37 clients waiting for their appointment to complete their tax returns.
Catching up remains a priority and a challenge. I’m still the only one to complete business returns along with reviewing all 1040 tax returns before they are transmitted. This attention to detail is one of the things that sets us apart from other firms and is the level of service you’ve come to expect from us. I will never waiver from producing quality work for my clients.
As we move into the 2024 tax filing season, I will continue to work on my wait list and each of you need to do what is best for you and your companies. Some of you may find you just can’t wait any longer for your tax returns and I totally understand and apologize for putting you in this situation. I have been brutally honest with you along this path and truly want the best for each of you. The month of December is an ideal time to transition to another tax preparer. For those that choose to move on, I will assist in any way I can.
I am happy to say that all bookkeeping and payroll services can continue uninterrupted, even if you take your tax returns elsewhere, we can continue to do your bookkeeping and payroll if you desire us to.
As always, I will file all business extension forms on March 15, 2025 and all individual extension forms on April 15, 2025 for all that choose to stay.
As a reminder, businesses with a December 31st year end are due September 15th and the penalty for not filing 2021 on time is $205 per month per owner, for 2022 it is $220 per month per owner and for 2023 it is $235 per month per owner, each have a 12-month maximum.
I want to thank you for understanding and for your years of patronage and friendship, I wish you all great success in the coming new year and hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
Shari
