New Michigan Grant opening Monday July 27, 2020
I received an email on Friday from LARA announcing that $8.55 Million in Covid-19 Workplace Safety Grants will open tomorrow July 27th. Based on my quick review these grants will provide small business (less than 250 employees) matching funds up to $10,000 for the purchase of engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), training, and materials that help to protect employees from Covid-19.
Preference will be given to employers engaged in an industry with identified heightened transmission risk, primarily—Bars and Restaurants, Retail, Gyms and Fitness Centers, Personal Services (Salon, Barber Shop, etc), Out-Patient Facilities (Dental and Medical Offices), Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities, High Worker Density Manufacturing (Meat/Poultry processing plants or other manufacturing where employees cannot consistently keep six feet apart).
An employer with 50 or less employees will be required to match 50% of the grant award amount
An employer with 51 or more employees will be required to match 100% of the grant award amount
